Midget
Major AA
I grew up in Minnesota in the 60’s and 70’s
and played multiple sports including hockey, football, baseball and golf. I played youth travel hockey, high school hockey, and college
hockey in Minnesota and also played adult hockey in Colorado.
I graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a degree in
Computer Science in the 80’s, have been married for 23 years, and have two
boys: ages 19 and 15.
I have coached multiple sports at various levels
including hockey, football, baseball and soccer. I
am a USA Hockey Level 4 certified coach and am entering my 5th year
as a Midget hockey coach at Arapahoe. While
at Arapahoe the teams I’ve coached have always been at or near the top of the
league standings, we’re typically the least penalized team each year, we’ve
placed 1st in many hockey tournaments, and we’ve played in league
and state championship games numerous times.
Prior to coming to Arapahoe I coached Bantam
hockey at Foothills Hockey Association as well as Bantam, Peewee and Squirt
Inline hockey at the recreation and travel levels. I
also coach the Ponderosa High School Varsity hockey team and prior to that the
Highlands Ranch High School Varsity hockey team for four years. Additionally,
I coach a Midget summer hockey team each year and run a conditioning program for
hockey players every summer as well.
I ask a lot of each player and in return I give everything I’ve
got to help every member of the team become better hockey players by working on
individual skills, teaching team concepts, improving on weaknesses, and building
upon strengths. I think it’s
important to keep the game of hockey fun for everyone involved and believe that
the teams that have the most fun are also the teams that have the most success.
