The Arapahoe Squirt B Maize took 1st place in the 35th annual Colorado Springs Amateur Hockey Association President’s Day Hockey Tournament.
With an impressive 5-0 record the team outscored their opponents 24-5 with goals tallied by 10 different players and 10 different players adding an assist. The Warriors' offense outshot their opponents 119 – 35
A strong Warrior defense held their opponents to just 35 total shots and 5 goals in 5 games, backed by two shut-outs by goaltender Tyler Weitzenfeld.
The Warriors played the tournament without two players, #8 Roy Park and goaltender #35 Evan Crawford. In an incredible show of strength and team spirit, the Warriors dedicated each game to Crawford in attendance at every game over the weekend after emergency appendectomy surgery just 4 days prior. Miraculously, Crawford was given credit in pointstreak for 2 wins including a shutout. After each win the entire team’s first stop was over to Crawford in the stands for a fist pump and a show of support.
The weekend games: Pueblo 7-3, Dallas Stars 2-0, Crested Butte 5-1, Boulder White 8-0, and beating Orange County, CA 2-1 in the championship game.
Congratulations to Arapahoe Warriors Squirt B Maize for taking home the Championship trophy in their 2-1 win over host-team Aspen. The Warriors went 5-0 in the tournament, outscoring their opponents 28-6, including one shut-out.
