Program Overview and Goals

Hockey specific skating skills and techniques are paramount as we train players to become the most efficient skaters as possible. This program will focus on motion specific skills necessary to improve the overall skating stride and is designed to keep the players feet in constant motion at a 100% work load on their legs, using crossovers, pivots, and half pivots and constant motion drills. This consists of both forward and backward skating as well as mastering of edges to maximize power.

 Checking Clinic

Learning effective body contact and how to check is imperative for success at the 14U/Bantam, 16/18U Midget and beyond. This camp will focus on critical techniques, which will allow players to gain “contact confidence” in all aspects of body contact. In a controlled environment, players will learn angling techniques, proper ways to give and receive checks, board pins, puck protection, and effective use of body checking and initiating offensive body contact.

Throughout the sessions, we will progress to randomized drills that force players to use body contact in game-like situations such as 1v1 net front battle drills and other competitive battle drills.

This camp is strongly recommended for all players who are at the 12U/Pee Wee and or transitioning from 12U/Pee Wee to 14U/18U Bantam/Midget Levels.  Even more important for returning bantams as they attempt to make that next jump in level. Players will be grouped into similar skill levels and age groups, allowing for appropriate competition.
