Exciting changes coming to the Travel Program!  2020-2021 CCYHL Fall/Winter Season information will be posted soon!

10 Week Summer Skills Challenge

The 10-Week Skills Challenge begins Monday, May 18.  The free program encourages players to take ownership for their off-season training with a structured program, tracking system and reward for completion.  There are two separate programs: a 5,000 shots challenge and a 10,000 touches (stickhandling) challenge.  Players are welcome to sign up for one or both, and will have 12 weeks starting May 18 to complete the 10-week program.  Throughout the program, registrants will receive periodic updates with weekly player challenge instructional videos, and opportunities to send videos for social media promotions.  A registration link will go live on the official start day, Monday, May 18. Participation in one challenge or both is free, and the honor system presides.  For the official and printable 5,000 Shot and 10,000 Touches worksheets, CLICK HERE.  For questions please contact

Katy Jo Bio:

I was a highly competitive figure skater for nearly 15 years.  I spent 4-6 hrs at the rink or training in the gym every single day to make it to the highest level I possibly could.  While at the rink doing my own training, I'd spend many more hours there watching my brother train and watching my brother play ice hockey.

We lived at the rink.

When I was 16 years old, a former NHL player and current Tier 1 coach asked me to take part in teaching edges to the players in his annual summer power skating camp, that's truly where my passion for coaching power skating started. At my first skate with hockey players, I stepped on the ice in my figure skates because that is what I knew. I put the guys [who were my age and older] through an incredibly difficult skate. They were all chirping me saying 'it was easier for me because I was wearing figure skates'. The next week, and from then on, I wore hockey skates and still skated circles around everyone! I continue to guest coach at many power skating camps and from this my business has grown. Currently, I am at the rink and on the ice for over 40 hours a week training hockey players. I have taught players of all ages and abilities! From hockey obsessed 2 & 3 year olds all the way up to NHL and professional players.

I believe that skating fundamentals are crucial for a successful hockey player. My goal is to teach players technique and skills that they will not learn elsewhere, which will help them be more efficient and effective on the ice. We all notice the players on the ice that skate with ease, and those skills are what I teach and I believe can change your game for the better. Every day that I get to step on the ice, I feel so blessed and grateful that I get to spread my knowledge of skating to other individuals that share the same passion for the game as I do.

I am thrilled to announce that I will be joining forces with the Colorado Thunderbirds and Arapahoe Warriors organizations. Myself and my staff are looking forward to developing skating for such prestigious elite programs.

See you on the ice!

AYHL Travel Program

AYHL's travel program includes every age division: Squirt (10U), Peewee (12U), Bantam (14U) and Midget Minor (16U). As a Tier II program, AYHL has AA, A, and B teams that participate in the Colorado Competitive Youth Hockey League (CCYHL).  This program offers players a very competitive and challenging level of competition that requires a higher degree of physical, financial and time commitment.

League Fee

The AYHL league fee for travel hockey is determined by the team level (i.e. AA, A, or B).  This fee covers practice ice time, home game ice time, home game referee fees, home and away jerseys, practice jersey and helmet decals.

Team Fees

In addition to the AYHL league fee, travel players will incur other costs associated with being on a travel team.  Those additional costs may include the following:  tournament fees, travel expenses, coach's travel expenses, team events and other miscellaneous team expenses not covered by the league fee.

2020-2021 Season Travel Tryouts

Tryouts begin in early August with Midget Minor AA and ends in September with Squirt.
